Tata Starbucks aims 1,000 stores in India by 2028

It currently runs over 390 stores in 54 cities.

Tata Starbucks targets to operate a total of 1,000 stores in India by 2028 which is equivalent to opening one store every three days.

In a statement, Starbucks said the strategy is aimed at providing job opportunities and promoting Indian-origin coffee.

“Over the past 11 years, the Indian market has grown to become one of Starbucks' fastest-growing markets in the world. With a growing middle class, we are proud to help cultivate the evolving coffee culture while honouring its rich heritage,” Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan.

“With our trusted business partner, Tata, and our green apron partners, we are well-positioned to capture the limitless opportunities as we open one store every three days in India and further our aspiration to become truly global,” he added.

This goal will require Starbucks to double its workforce to around 8,600 employees as it aims to enter Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and increase its drive-thrus, airports, and 24-hour stores.
