In a statement, Sumitomo Corporation said the on-site solar corporate power purchase agreement will cover 12 AEON stores in Japan, with one installing over 2.4 MW.

The carports will generate around 18 million kilowatt-hours of electricity which is equivalent to the power consumption of around 4,300 ordinary households.

The company aims to use 100% locally produced renewable energy by 2040.
