Techi – the robot waiter

Techi by Techmetics from Singapore is said to be the ‘world’s first autonomous navigation service robot for hotels, hospitals and F&B outlets. It can be used for table or room service, materials handling, order taking or surveillance.

Nor Suhir, business development director at Techmetics, said the robot is able to self-navigate and avoid obstacles and has 13 hours of continuous run-time. It can carry a load of up to 50 kg. The user can control the robot easily via a mobile app.

Interactive Restaurant Technology by Kodisoft
Kodisoft’s interactive table top technology also caught the attention of many visitors. The table top touch screens by the Ukraine company allow diners to order from their table (without the need for a waiter); they can also play games and interact with other diners. It also saves on manpower as only two waiters are needed in the restaurant, compared with six traditionally in a restaurant with 84 seats.

The first restaurant to install the table tops was installed in a pilot project in Cyprus.

According to Kodisoft founder Dmytro Kostyk and Oleg Lakhotsky, Business Development at Kodisoft, the interactive restaurant technology concept has garnered lots of publicity for the restaurant, and attracted more diners. The company is now looking to expand the use of its technology in Asia.

The table tops are water-proof and ‘damage-proof’. Kodisoft charges the restaurant a subscription licence. The other option is for Kodisoft to be a co-investor and 20% shareholder with the local partner.

iChef from Taiwan

iChef is an iPad-based point-of-sale system, order and seating management for small business owners.

It allows restaurants to manage their queues and ease customers’ waiting time. Users can also track the status of diners’ needs. iChef is currently being used at 500 eateries in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
