Nike’s Singapore and Malaysia outlets now owned by GMG

The new operator has expressed plans to expand their footprint in Asia.

Footwear brand Nike’s retail outlets in Singapore and Malaysia have a new owner in Dubai-based wellbeing company GMG after it acquired the stores from the sports retailing arm of SUTL Corporation, the company said in a press release.

GMG's deputy chairperson and CEO Mohammad Baker has expressed plans to “further cement our long-standing partnership with Nike and expand our footprint in Asia."

GMG has introduced more than 120 brands into its markets, promoting healthier and more active lifestyles through four business verticals: sports, food, health, and consumer goods.

SUTL was appointed by Nike as one of three operators in 2010 with three Nike-only stores. It then became the exclusive operator of Nike-only retail outlets in Singapore and Malaysia. SUTL opened a Nike store in the Jewel Changi Airport in 2019, the largest Nike-only retail store in Southeast Asia.
