Maybank receives approval for notes programme

The programme also enables Maybank to issue notes, senior and/or subordinated notes in currencies other than ringgit.

The Securities Commission (SC) has approved Malayan Banking Bhd’s (Maybank) proposed medium-term notes (MTN) programme not exceeding US$2bil.

The company told Bursa Malaysia that it received SC approval in a letter dated April 18.

The MTN programme also provides flexibility to Maybank to issue notes, senior and/or subordinated notes in currencies other than ringgit, from time to time, through its Hong Kong branch and/or Singapore branch, according to a report in The Malaysian Star.

The proceeds will be used for the company’s working capital, general banking and other corporate purposes.
