Aussie bandits keep blowing up ATMs in gas attacks
Aussie ATM gas attacks up this year with six in the last three months alone as bandits find empty streets and cash-filled machines an easy target.
The latest of the attacks was a blast perpetrated by three men at Glenrose Shopping Centre on Glen Street, Belrose. It damaged the ATM and the Bendigo Bank branch to which it was attached.
A Sydney Morning Herald report described the perpetrators as carrying crowbars and wearing hooded jackets, jeans and balaclavas during the attack. Police said the bandits fled in a blue Nissan Skyline sedan and a silver BMW M3 sedan. A car chase subsequently transpired between the police and the BMW on Eastern Valley Way at Castle Cove but was unsuccessful.
Strike Force Piccadilly II detectives and forensic officers were still examining the damage to confirm if cash was taken.
