Bankers from Pacific Islands to get training in Italy

The Pacific Financial Inclusion Program announced that representatives from some Pacific countries will join a delegation to attend the Boulder Institute of Microfinance training in Turin.

The 17th annual Boulder microfinance training program, often cited as the primer microfinance training in the world with strong focus on sustainability, management, policy and regulation will run from July 18 to Aug. 5.

According to the PFIP, among the Pacific representatives, four are from reserve or central banks of Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands and two from microfinance institutions in Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea.

"This is the second group of Pacific islanders who are being supported by PFIP to attend this training. PFIP is committed to strengthening the capacity of regulators and microfinance service managers to create more inclusive financial sectors which will benefit low income women, men and micro entrepreneurs," said Jeff Liew, PFIP's regional capacity adviser.
