Metrobank bags Reuters prestigious honor
The Philippines' Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company (Metrobank) was awarded Best Bond Fund Group in the Lipper Fund Awards of Thomson Reuters.
The Lipper Fund Awards are part of the Thomson Reuters Awards for Excellence, a global family of awards that celebrate exceptional performance throughout the professional investment community.
“We are proud to recognise the best investment fund companies in the Philippines for their superior performance,” said Eric Wong, Lipper’s head of research for Hong Kong at Thomson Reuters.
The Lipper Fund Awards are based on a precise measurement emphasizing risk-adjusted returns and consistency– the keys to long-term success.
Metrobank’s bond and liquid funds were additionally recognised in their respective categories – Best Bond US Dollar - Medium Term fund for the Metrodollar Philippine Bond Fund, and Best Bond US Dollar - Short Term fund for the Metrodollar Philippine Liquid Fund. The awards were based on a three-year period ending 31 December 2009.
“We are very pleased to have been recognised in this prestigious Awards,” said Josefina E. Sulit, head of Metrobank Trust Banking Group. “The recognition reflects Metrobank’s commitment to quality and consistency, as well as proficiency in fund management. We remain proactively focused on managing risks and returns, amidst changes in market conditions.”
Sulit said the award came in perfect timing as investors have become more discerning in their choice of funds and fund managers.
“In this respect, we are prepared to offer them a wide array of products that have consistently performed well even in difficult market conditions,” added Sulit.
Lipper honors funds that have delivered consistently strong risk-adjusted performance relative to peers. The Philippines is one of the 23 countries and regions covered by Lipper’s program of 2010 fund awards.
