Punjab National launches massive financial inclusion scheme
India’s Finance Minister introduced Project Namaskar to garner 100,000 touch points through 100% core banking solution.
The 2nd biggest public sector bank in India, Punjab National Bank has started a huge financial inclusion scheme with an intention to have 100,000 touch points till the year 2013.
30 touch points have already begun functioning in parts of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, Rohtak in Haryana and Gaya in Bihar. With this, the bank would be establishing itself in 119 villages thus reaching 132,000 people.
The mission called Project Namaskar was opened by Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee in the New Delhi Headquarters of the bank.
On the occasion the bank also said that it would apply 100% core banking solution (CBS) (anywhere banking facility) in 6 regional rural banks (RRBs) supported by PNB. These RRBs are located across 67 districts in 6 states.
