Bank Mandiri launches mobile payment service
Good news for Indonesian merchants and consumers.
Bank Mandiri, the largest bank in Indonesia, launched recently a mobile payment solution, Mandiri Mobile POS, in collaboration with goSwiff and its local partner Indopay.
According to a release from goSwiff, mPOS answers to the needs of Mandiri’s customers for security, convenience and reliability in card transactions with Visa and MasterCard.
Leveraging goSwiff's mobile commerce and marketing experience, the new mPOS solution helps Bank Mandiri to bring more payment alternatives to Indonesian merchants and consumers.
Indonesian government is encouraging a cashless society by reducing cash transactions, and Mandiri Mobile POS provides one channel for that.
Here's more from goSwiff:
“The advantage is that we offer mobile payments along with our existing POS solution to the merchants. mPOS is equipped with functions to take service orders, to provide inventory and to offer loyalty programs for the merchant’s loyal customers.
mPOS solution can be integrated with existing POS already owned by the merchant, hence offering a more complete solution to our clients,” said Frans Usthavia Rico, Senior Executive Vice President of Transaction Banking, Bank Mandiri.
For Food & Beverage merchants, mPOS allows a restaurant waiter to serve their customers personally at their table without the need for a customer to queue at the checkout counter. The payment on the spot prevents any card misuse by unauthorized parties.
Bank Mandiri’s initial pilot to test the mPOS integration with service ordering system was done with Holycow Steak by Chef Afit.
By using a smartphone or tablet (iOS & Android), a card reader and applications for mPOS payments, the cashier can serve card transactions fast and easy.
The applications, downloadable on Apps Store and Google Play, allow the card transactions anywhere, any time in an environmentally friendly way, as the proof of payment can be sent to customers electronically vial email or SMS.
“We are very excited by this partnership with Bank Mandiri expanding cashless transactions to new merchants and to new locations. Indonesia is a core market for goSwiff and we strongly believe that consumers, merchants but also government entities will benefit from our mobile commerce solution”, says Eric Laurent, President APAC, goSwiff.
“This new partnership confirms goSwiff’s vision of being the global mobile commerce platform and marketing services provider.”
