BEA unveils electronic bill presentment and payment service
Targets to centralise receipt of bills.
According to a release, the Bank of East Asia now offers an Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment service to Cyberbanking and Corporate Cyberbanking customers.
Cyberbanking customers who register for the free-of-charge service can enjoy the convenience of having bills from all merchants they register with sent to one inbox online for easy bill management and payment.
In addition to enjoying centralised receipt of bills, EBPP customers can settle the bills of third parties after registering with the relevant merchants. Customers can make one-off or scheduled payments in Hong Kong dollars, Renminbi, or US dollars.
Corporate Cyberbanking merchant customers can use the service to issue regular or ad hoc bills to customers and reconcile payments, improving efficiency by reducing manual processing and saving on printing and mailing costs.
Charitable organisations who register for the service can receive e-donations from donors via Cyberbanking. The service platform will then automatically issue e-donation receipts to donors for amounts that are eligible for tax exemption by the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department.
Mr. Vincent Hui, General Manager & Head of Personal Banking Division of BEA, was a guest of honour at the EBPP Launching Ceremony hosted by Hong Kong Monetary Authority earlier today. A demo of BEA’s EBPP service was presented at the ceremony.
Speaking about the new service, Mr. Hui said, “We at BEA are proud to be at the forefront of digital banking in Hong Kong. This new EBPP service will greatly simplify the bill presentment and payment cycle, bringing convenience to merchants and the general public alike.”
BEA is one of the participating banks in the EBPP initiative. Customers, merchants, and charities who use BEA’s EBPP service will be able to interact with all other parties that have registered for EBPP, no matter which participating bank they have registered with.
