Affin rejects report of bidding for EON Cap

Affin said it is on a lookout for growth opportunities despite denying move to acquire EON.

Affin Holdings Bhd, which is the country's eighth largest banking group, has denied making a takeover bid to acquire EON Capital Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Affin said it had not held any discussion with any shareholder of EON Capital on the proposed acquisition on an interest in EON Capital nor has its board of directors deliberated on or approved the acquisition.

Affin also said that it had not submitted any proposal to Bank Negara Malaysia in relation to the acquisition of an interest in EON Capital.

The company, however, stated that it continuously looked at opportunities to enhance its shareholders' value and this included, among others, opportunities to grow the Affin group of companies either organically or via mergers and acquisitions.
