Hong Leong briefs clients on FGI scheme

Hong Leong Bank conducted a presentation cum briefing in support of the Financial Guarantee Insurance Scheme of the Malaysian government. The presentation, entitled "Seizing Funding Opportunities During Challenging Times," was held for their valued corporate clients and was the first of its kind among banks.

Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Sri Abdul Hamidy Abdul Hafiz, Chairman of Danajamin Nasional Berhad and Mr Wong Fook Wah, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer of RAM Holdings Berhad, were among the distinguished guests and valued corporate clients in attendance.

In his opening address, Dato’ Sri Abdul Hamidy announced that the newly-formed Danajamin Nasional Berhad has a mandate to facilitate availability of long-term capital for deserving businesses at a fair cost. "Priority will be given to businesses that have multiplying effects towards Malaysian economy," he said.

"Our Debt Capital Markets team has helped clients lead-arrange, issue or successfully place out more than RM3 billion (US$855 million) in private debt securities both conventional and Islamic in the last three years and they are ready to serve you. Once mandated, rest assured that they will dedicate their time and share their expertise with you," said Yvonne Chia, Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Bank.
